Weighing Goals against each other

A team can succeed in completing the project successfully within the expected time frame and with the expected quality, only by setting the goals cleverly. Also it is mandatory to decide what importance has to be assigned to what goal, when there are multiple goals set. The main aspects to be considered while deciding upon the sequence of goal completion are,

>> Complexity of the project
>> Revenue generated by the chosen goal
>> Time frame available
>> Availability of man power
>> Vulnerability of the project
>> Consent of team members about working on the particular goal
>> Client requirement

The goals can be categorized according the technical knowledge among the team members. The future projects from the client should be kept in mind. Familiarity also plays a role in deciding the goal priority. When the team members are already familiar with a type of project then it can be completed within a smaller time frame which banks in time for any complex projects.

The complete project can be break-down into smaller goals and those can be prioritized based on the effect of that has on completing that particular project. The goals set has to be clear and focused on the end product. The goals that require outside help has to be dealt based on the availability of those resources. When team members are mostly specialized in a particular field, that can be saved for last as it would not require time and energy like other complex projects.

Projects with specific requests has to be dealt first followed by the ones with more fuzzy specifications. The team members should be flexible to toggle between the goals,if by some reason there is a stagnancy in one. Whatever the goal set is,the support and guidance of the team leader is very important. Team leader should have sound knowledge about the technical skills of his/her team members to hit the bull's eye of the goal.
